Application
Poly(ala) is designed to mimic the structure and function of myelin basic protein (MBP) in order to modulate and suppress immune responses specifically related to myelin antigens. This polymer, created from a precise combination of amino acids, binds to MHC class II molecules, which helps it compete with myelin antigens for T-cell activation and induces the formation of specific Th2 suppressor cells. This antigen-specific action reduces the likelihood of long-term immune system damage by effectively inhibiting T-cell responses to MBP and other related antigens.
