1-Monobutyrin for the Enhancement of Egg Quality in Broiler Breeders

This study evaluated the effect of 1-monobutyrin supplementation on egg production and gut health in late-stage Qingyuan partridge broilers. A total of 180 healthy birds were randomly allocated into two groups: a corn-soybean meal-based basal diet and the same diet supplemented with 250 mg/kg 1-monobutyrin, with six replicates of 15 birds each. The 8-week trial monitored egg production rate, egg weight, shell strength, and feed conversion. Biochemical indices, including total protein and four antioxidant parameters, were assessed. Cecal microbiota diversity and composition were analyzed using standard alpha diversity metrics. Results demonstrated that 1-monobutyrin increased egg weight and slightly reduced egg breaking rate, while cecal microbiota remained largely unaffected, highlighting its targeted application in egg quality improvement.
