This case study evaluates the experimental application of Glucagon Hydrochloride as a pharmacological bowel relaxant in CT colonography screening. In a prospective screening trial, participants received an intravenous bolus of 1 mg glucagon hydrochloride, administered immediately prior to colonic insufflation, primarily in cases where anticholinergic agents were contraindicated. Colonic distension was systematically assessed per anatomical segment using a standardized 4-point scoring system under both supine and prone imaging positions. Patient-reported burden and tolerability were collected via structured questionnaires two weeks post-procedure, enabling quantitative comparison of procedural discomfort. Statistical analysis employed propensity score matching to balance baseline characteristics, followed by stratified Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney and Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel tests. The methodology demonstrates glucagon hydrochloride's practical utility as a smooth muscle relaxant facilitating colonic distension, while allowing controlled evaluation of imaging quality, patient burden, and side-effect profiles in clinical imaging workflows.
