3-Cyanopropyldimethylchlorosilane was experimentally applied as a liquid-phase silanization reagent to modify the solid-liquid interface of fused-silica nanofabricated channels. After channel fabrication and bonding, the silane was introduced to form a stable, fully wettable, slightly hydrophilic monolayer on the silica walls without altering channel geometry or inducing fabrication variability. This post-fabrication coating selectively replaced approximately 25% of native negatively charged silanol sites with electrically neutral cyanosilane groups, enabling controlled tuning of surface charge density. The functionalized nanochannels were systematically characterized using pH-sensitive dye-based capillary filling experiments and electro-osmotic current monitoring. These methods allowed quantitative evaluation of surface-dependent chemical equilibrium constants, interfacial capacitances, and ζ-potential behavior across varying ionic strengths. The study demonstrates the utility of 3-cyanopropyldimethylchlorosilane as a precise surface-engineering reagent for electrochemical and nanofluidic interface studies.
