The treated sulfuric acid exhibited both fewer peaks and reduced intensity which demonstrated a significant reduction in organic pollutants quantity and diversity after the oxidation reaction.
The proposed degradation mechanism indicates that oxidants (H2O2 and PS) and free radicals (˙OH, ˙HO2, and SO4-˙) will react with macromolecules to start radical reactions including hydrogen abstraction, double bond addition, electron transfer, and bond cleavage which results in the creation of CO2, H2O, and smaller molecular compounds.
