Synthesis of Rare Earth Metal Organic Framework Materials Based on 2,5-Pyridinedicarboxylic Acid Ligands

2,5-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid can be used to synthesize metal organic framework (MOF) materials. Using 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (H2Pdc) ligand, Eu salt and gadolinium oxide as raw materials, two MOFs were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal method, and single crystals were obtained. The following is the synthesis procedure of two MOF materials. · Synthesis of [Eu (bipy) (CH3COO)·H2O] n (1) Eu(NO3)3·6H2O(0.113 g, 0.5 mmol), Co(CH3COO)2 (0.125 g, 0.5 mmol), H2Pdc (0.167 g, 1 mmol) were dissolved in distilled water with stirring for 1h at room temperature. Then add the mixture to an autoclave (25 mL) equipped with a Teflon substrate. And then the autoclave was placed in an oven and heated to 140 °C for 72 h. Turn off the oven allowed to cool to room temperature, remove the reactor, yellow needlelike crystals (1) generated, filtered, dried naturally and collected samples. Yield: 60%. · Synthesis of [Gd (bipy) (CH3COO)] n (2) The synthesis of [Gd (bipy) (CH3COO)]n (2) is similar to that of 1, except that europium nitrate and cobalt acetate were replaced by gadolinium oxide and zinc acetate. A transparent block crystal is formed, filtered and dried naturally, then collected samples. Yield: 79%.
Synthesis of Samarium(III) Coordination Polymer Based on 2,5-Pyridinedicarboxylic Acid Ligand

A Sm(III) coordination polymer was successfully synthesized via hydrothermal reaction from the reaction mixture of Sm(NO3)3·6H2O, 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (2,5-pydcH2), piperazine and H2O. The metal complex polymer exhibits good thermal stability and photoluminescence emission in the solid state in the phosphorescent region. Synthesis of the coordination polymer · A mixture of Sm(NO3)3·6H2O (0.134 g, 0.3 mmol), pyridine 2,5-dicarboxylic acid (0.153 g, 0.9 mmol), piperazine (0.027 g, 0.3 mmol) and H2O (5 mL, 278 mmol) in the mole ratio 1.00:3.00:1.00:927 was sealed in a 23 mL Teflon reactor and kept under autogenous pressure at 160 ºC for 72 hours. · The mixture was cooled to room temperature at a rate of 20 °C/h, and bright yellow colored crystals were obtained. The heterogeneous solution was separated from the solid phase, the crystals washed with water and dried at room temperature. Yield: 81 % based on Sm. Initial pH; 1.90, final pH; 3.40. The coordination polymer is insoluble in common solvents (ethanol, methanol, acetonitrile etc.) and water.
